HYC Update - Lose-a-Palooza & other news

Remember that today is Lose-a-Palooza for WW’s Lose for Good campaign.

Lose-A-Palooza is a one-day online social networking event taking place on September 15, 2009 to help raise awareness for the Lose For Good™ campaign!

For every accepted mention or acknowledgment of “Lose For Good” made on September 15 via blogs, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, Weight Watchers will make an additional donation – up to $25,000* – for just one day of social media activity.  This donation is on top of the $1 million** Weight Watchers is hoping to donate to Share Our Strength and Action Against Hunger as part of the 2009 Lose For Good campaign!”

Even if you’re not a WW member, you can support the cause by posting about it on your blog, on Twitter, or on Facebook.

In other news, I just thought I’d share a little peek at my scale.  This morning I weighed in (now I’m doing daily, unofficial weigh-ins to see if I can notice any trends), and the scale said I’m down 0.7 since last week.  I know that’s a small amount, but it is encouraging to see the scale moving in the right direction.  It’s almost as if someone has paid off my scale so that it finally shows me the numbers I’ve been hoping for.

Tomorrow I have my first appointment with a new doctor to see if there is some medical explanation for my slow weight loss.  I’m excited to meet her, and I hope that she has a less passive approach to health care than my last doctor did.  I need someone who is proactive and cares about preventative medicine.  I want them to check my thyroid and perform any other type of test that might give more insight into why my body seems to be holding on to weight.  I’m sure this will be a slow process, but I’ll keep you updated as I go along.

I’ve been feeling really great lately – both physically and mentally.  Things are finally starting to slowly creep in the right direction in terms of the scale, and it has me feeling so happy.  I know I shouldn’t tie my mood so closely to the scale, but after 3 months of struggle, it’s hard not to.

This is shaping up to be a terrific week!
