And She’s Off … to a Very Slow Start

So I’m a week and a half into my itsy bitsy teeny weenie Hawaii bikini challenge and I’ve lost a whopping 1.5 pounds of the 11 pounds I set out to lose. This leaves an intimidating 9.5 pounds left to lose in the next four and a half weeks. So when I do the math, and we know how much I love math, I have to lose about 2 and 1/3 pound per week between now and November 14.

This picture was taken last weekend. Almost bikini ready

This seems daunting. And it is. For someone at my stage in the game, that much weight loss per week is relatively high. New dieters probably wouldn’t find it all that challenging, but for someone like me who’s already below goal, it might be impossible.

I know what the problem is. Exercise. As in, not enough of it. I’m not going to make any excuses here. I don’t make excuses because I don’t take excuses. It’s my belief that when you’re a bariatric patient your success or your failure is linked to your behavior which is under your control. The end.

Ok, so to that end, it’s time to step up the exercise routine into high gear. *ugh* I exercise, but honestly, I hate it. I really thought if I did it enough that one day I would come to love it. All those endorphins would kick in and I’d finally experience that runner’s high that’s supposedly so addicting. What bunk.

But that’s beside the point. The fact of the matter is that the exercise needs done and I’m the one who must be doing it. Will itsy bitsy teeny weenie bikini girl do her exercise, meet her goal, wear her bikini and save the day? Find out when we return with the next episode of (cue the echo effect) Bikini Watch.
