I know I”m a few days behind on the tips but I will get them up for you, they just happen to be on the other computer. I’ve been so busy working on getting out taxes finished and out that I’ve barely come up for air (other than to workout).
I know, just the mention of the word “taxes” makes several people cringe. And I have to admit that I did the same thing as the W-2s and 1099s started coming in the mail. I wanted to procrastinate getting them done, mostly because I thought we would OWE this year. But, wanting to at least know what I would be owing, I decided to get started on them (I didn’t have to FILE yet).
Just a word for business owners, which as a Beachbody Coach I am, it is not the best idea to wait until the end of the year to do profit/loss statements. Even if you do keep all of your receipts and documentation in a pendaflex. It makes for a VERY long day of crunching numbers! But once the profit/loss statement was finished, the taxes were pretty simple. I do use a program online because I have had good results each time and it is easy. Plus, the few times I have taken them to a tax consultant, they either missed something or didn’t get me back as much as the online program did, even after I paid them MORE and still had to pay to e-file.
Anyway, as I started doing them, I saw the numbers go higher and higher. By the end, I could barely keep myself contained! Not only was I not owing taxes but I got a very nice return! I had someone ask me last week if being a Coach was actually worth the hassle of doing the taxes. After seeing this return – YES! Absolutely! Even if I only wrote off the startup cost ($24) and web fees ($14.95/mo), I would still be saving 25% on every purchase I make. And that is assuming that I make no money at all during the year (which was definately NOT the case) or have any other expenses related to my business (like my home office).
Needless to say, several of my Shakeology customers are learning that the benefits of becoming a Coach FAR outweigh the retail cost of Shakeology. Not only do they get a discount on the product (even with the monthly web fee) but they have business expenses at the end of the year to help with taxes. And that doesn’t even take into account the changes they make to their health or the savings on doctor bills in the future. Most are finding that they are sharing with family and friends how GOOD it makes them feel and when someone buys Shakeology they start earning as well. Okay, enough rambling on about taxes…I am going to ask all of you for a big favor!
This perimenopause thing has made it VERY difficult to lose the weight that came on before it was diagnosed. I have been extremely careful about eating clean, have cut out most dairy (about 90%) and have switched to organic products. I am losing again and tightening up (from Insanity) but it is slow and I have the Coach Summit coming up the first weekend of May. That gives me 10 weeks to lose as much body fat as possible before going.
I took measurements yesterday and it’s pretty obvious where the weight (body fat) is staying (and being stubborn!). Like most women, it has settled low abs, hips and thighs. All of my other measurements have stayed the same and I can see the muscles now but these stubborn areas are refusing to budge. So it’s time to pull out every trick in the book!
So here’s the favor – keep me accountable! While this isn’t the workout plan I would recommend to everyone (not everyone has the same goal or discipline to do this), it will strip fat off quickly and safely. It is typical of a bodybuilder diet before a competition to strip off fat. It is in NO way a diet/exercise plan to gain muscle (although you shouldn’t LOSE muscle either)
My plan:
1) 2 workouts per day – Insanity in the a.m. with a second cardio (Turbo Jam, Slim in 6, P90X, etc) for 30-45 min in the p.m. 3 days/wk and 3 days of p.m. resistance training (P90X or ChaLEAN Extreme)
2) Only 1 serving daily of complex carbs (oatmeal, brown rice, quinoa and rarely, 100% whole grain bread)
3) 6-7 servings daily of various vegetables and 3-5 servings of fruits. All in whole form.
4) Limit myself to 1 serving daily of dairy and must be organic. This will most likely come from cottage cheese.
5) A minimum of 128 oz water DAILY.
6) No more than 3 hrs without eating
7) Lean proteins and carbs (fruits/veg) at every meal
No alcohol
Will I be tired? Probably. Will I be FIT? You better believe it! And, for those of you thinking that I’m nuts, keep this in perspective. This is 10 weeks out of my life. I won’t be doing this all the time or forever. This is to get in perfect shape for one event. (And not NEARLY as bad as what the Biggest Loser contestants do before their finale!!) This is extremely healthy (this would be considered a perfect diet). The problem is that fitting it into everyday “life” is going to be a challenge. It’s not the “diet” that’s going to be tough, it’s the time management.
So there you have it…my accountablity request for the next 10 weeks. When I’m done, I’ll post pics for you guys to see!
