This is FUNDAMENTAL to your Weight Loss Success...

I can’t stress this enough – as you may have noticed – I actually couldn’t choose a larger font for the title … or, yes, damn straight I would have!!

Ok, I’m going to cut to the chase with all of this and begin with the most important posts first to give you as much of the key weight loss fundamentals first … hot off the press.   Why use the fundamental word at all??  Well, without considering the core foundation of any weight loss program… there’s just not point in starting.  Remember we’re talking about long term … feeling fabulous stuff … not killing yourself for a few weeks or months to kiss all your hard work goodbye.

So, lets talk fundamentals … now it seems logical, but it’s just not well considered by people because we generally get sold on the hype and success of the program (for others mind you!) … and unfortunatley for many, that success is short term.  So damn it!  Take some time to get it right for yourself now and save yourself allot of tears, tantrums, torture and create more time for yourself in your own future.

Where to start??  I’m gonna make this simple - because to choose the right weight loss program, you need to look at three key areas of your life:  Understand Your Job; Understand Your Food Preferences; and Understand Your Physical Activity.

Understanding Your Job

Are you at home all day – if so, do you have very active days running around after kids, doing the washing cleaning – or are your days spent watching the TV?  Do you work long days?  Are you stuck at a desk or are you physcially very active?  Do you travel for work – this is important because you don’t usually have the same access to foods as you do when you’re stationed at home – yeah?  Does physically demanding work effect your apetite more than burying your head in a strategic business plan??? Sounds funny doesn’t it, but I can run till the cows come home and feel ok, but put my head in some strategy and I’m bloody hungry!  It’s important to know and understand how these things effect you and your apetite.  So, to sum it up, your job can effect your apetite, your access to the right foods for you, and your energy expenditure… so let’s leave that there for now … and keep going.

Understanding Your Food Preferences

OK – big one!  When you decide to modify the way you eat to reach a weight goal – do choose a program that allows you to eat more of the foods you enjoy.  Not rocket science is it – but again, a logical and overlooked aspect of weight loss success.  Equally, think about this … if you did not have the support that is provided in the weight loss program you have chosen – would you cook or prepare that food yourself? Do or will you know how to prepare that food youself?  Do you have the time to prepare that food yourself – or can you continue to buy it long term?  Can you see yourself continuing to eat this way in a few weeks/months time?  Now the last question… may be a maybe for many people (particularly if this is a drastic change in diet) and that’s ok for now.  But remember, do what you’ve always done – get what you’ve always gotten.  So to change the size or shape of your body – you do need to change the way you eat – makes sense right?  Ok – but there’s got to be some rhyme and reason to why you choose a particular weight loss program – it must be as closely aligned to the things you value most right now.  Yes your program may change as the things you value most change .. but that’s another topic for another time – because we’re focusing on the now only.

Understanding Your Physical Activity

SHOCKING Weight Loss Reality – YOU DON’T ACTUALLY HAVE TO EXERCISE TO LOSE WEIGHT!!!  Holy Cow!  I said it .. out loud! But you do need to move.  What’s the difference?  Well, contrary to popular belief, you don’t actually have to move your ass like a mad man throwing a hissy fit to lose weight .. infact depending on the weight loss eating plan you choose … the type of movement you choose will either support you in your weight loss or just place a big fat speed bump .. somewhat resembling a small mountain in your way – should you get it wrong!  And you’ll be left kickng yourself for trying so damn hard to get no-where … and dare I say it - be left feeling like a big fat failure in the end!  However, at the minimum, you do need to simply put some movement into your day.  Whatever your situation, there is some way of getting movement into your day.  But the big question here is – do you like exercise? If it’s a YES – that matters!  If it’s a deafening NO, that matters too!  This stuff matters when choosing the right weight loss strategy for you.  Will the program you choose support you with your activity goals and preferences?  It matters, it matters, it matters.  Come on guys - there are plenty of fit fat people out there – infact I used to be one of them!  Could run rings around my friends then – and now – but very very few programs support physically active people … the wrong ‘combination’ of foods for the wrong physical activity just isn’t gonna work either.  I don’t know about you guys, but I’d rather be fat that feel like I’m starving to death everyday .. or feel like my stomach is eating me from the inside out !  So, no, I think we can safely say that one size does not fit all … but that there is a right fit for all of us … so think about it.

Among many other things, I love strategy – and because of this – I understand how these three things fundemantally matter to your weight loss success.  Strategy is a word that people are often scared of becaues they don’t really ‘get it’ – so let me break it down for you – strategy is just what we do when we set goals.  We kinda look at everything around us to make sure it’s all going to support us getting to where we want to go – yeah?  So all the small steps, choices, plans, preparation and activities we do everyday in our weight loss success program - form our ‘weight loss strategy’.  Didn’t realise you were so damn smart did you – yes you’re now a strategic mover and shaker!  Welcome aboard!

Well now, I’ll continue to write on related topics… after all, multiple years of education and experience will keep it all flowing, but if you have some specific questions, please feel free to ask them and I can cut to the chase for you and give you what you need now.

Until next time….
